Verneuil Sapphires are a Synthetic Sapphire which have the same physical and chemical properties as a naturally occurring Sapphire, including the same density and hardness of a natural stone. After many years of experiments it wasn’t until 1909 that Verneuil discovered that adding Iron and Titanium would create blue Sapphire. In 1911 he was awarded two patents for the discovery and the Sapphires were from then on known as Verneuil Sapphires. The Old Cut Diamonds have been calculated in the setting and are estimated to weigh 0.05 Carat each, totalling 0.70 Carat. SI2 Clarity and I Colour.
